周雪光，1982年复旦大学本科毕业，1981年参加南开大学社会学班培训，1991年美国斯坦福大学社会学博士毕业。曾在美国康奈尔大学和杜克大学社会学系、香港科技大学商学院组织管理系任教。现任美国斯坦福大学社会学教授，主要从事组织社会学和社会分层领域的研究工作，其主要研究成果发表在《美国社会学评论》、《美国社会学学刊》、《社会力》、《行政科学季刊》、《组织科学》、《比较政治研究》等期刊上。 郝大海，中国人民大学社会学系教授，博士生导师。1982年国防科学技术大学物理系本科毕业，1992年考入中国人民大学社会学系，1995年、2001年先后获法学硕士、法学博士学位。主要研究领域为社会分层与流动，主要教学领域为社会研究方法，社会统计学。

As a source for facts and research ideas, it is very good. It has drawbacks in other areas, however. First, the entire point of the book seems flawed.
